About this workshop:
This six-hour Poetry course taught by Dean Rader will focus on personalized critique and craft discussion from the instructor, as well as traditional workshop-style group discussion. The Workshop will conclude with wine and a round table discussion with the Editors of ZYZZYVA about the publishing industry, what to expect when working with editors, how to make the right impression with your submission, and more.
Dean Rader has published widely in the fields of poetry, literary studies, American Indian studies, and visual/popular culture, and he teaches regularly in all of these areas. His recent poetry collections are Self-Portrait as Wikipedia Entry (Copper Canyon Press), and Suture (Black Lawrence), written with Simone Muench. His collection Landscape Portrait Figure Form was named by the Barnes & Noble Review as one of the best poetry books of 2013, and his 2010 collection of poems, Works & Days, won the T. S. Eliot Poetry Prize.
Submission Guidelines: Please submit the 3 poems that you would like to be discussed in the Workshop itself; poetry submissions may be any length.
The non-refundable application fee is $20. Accepted applicants will be informed by July 2nd. If accepted, the fee to attend is $280. (Snacks, coffee and wine are included; lunch is not.)
